Marti Bharath in the studio

Sapta is an Indian live-electronica act, founded in Paris in 2007 by Marti Bharath and now based in Goa, India. It is a live act: synthesizers, a hardware rig and live drums, mixed on stage.

The name is the Sanskrit word for seven, and the number runs through the project: seven-track albums, releases on the seventh of the month. In the studio Sapta is Marti Bharath's own work as writer and producer. On stage it becomes a band, with Tapass Naresh on drums and guest musicians across festivals, venues and commissioned shows.

The records pair Carnatic melody with synthesizers and hardware. ROOTS went inward, to the temple. CIRCUITRY goes outward, across the country: seven tracks, seven places. A Global Generation closes the trilogy on 7 March 2027, ahead of Sapta's twentieth year.

Rolling Stone India has followed Sapta since 2015, and Wild City has covered the project three times. The catalogue runs through Voyce Records, the label Marti Bharath founded, alongside ArtistAloud and self-release, and includes the 2026 Re-Imagined series, which rebuilds the first three albums with present-day production.

Outside Sapta, Marti Bharath heads Electronic Music Production at KM Music Conservatory and scores for film, including the Tamil feature Aadai and Netflix's Friday Night Plan.
